Bitkinin genellikle su üstü bitkisi olarak yavru akvaryumlarında ve labirentli balıkların beslendiği akvaryumda yetiştirildiği görülmüştür. Çok fazla bir gereksinimi olmayan orta derece ışıkta bile rahatlıkla bakılabilen bir bitkidir. Yüksek ışıkta genellikle daha iri boyutlara ulaşır yaprakları havaya doğru yani yukarı hafifçe kıvrılır. Bakıldığı akvaryumda çiçek açtığına rastlanmıştır. Bitkinin genel amacı aslında ortamdaki fazlalık olan nitratı emmeleri ve biyolojik döngüye katkı sağlamalarıdır. Köklerini zamanla uzatacağından yavrular için ideal bir saklanma alanı oluşturacaktır.
